Last July 2012, I posted a solution to the issue when the App Designer closes unexpectedly when the Properties button of the object properties is clicked. The solution involves loosening the restriction of Windows 7 which will not work for everyone else especially if you have no administration access to the machine.
This one is different. It will not require you to change your workstation security settings. To have a better picture of this let’s revisit the issue.
The picture below is the Grid Properties window showing the Label tab. There are five buttons and of it is labeled Properties for the respective sections of the page. The issue triggers when any of these buttons are clicked.
The solution requires uninstalling Workstation and installing it back in the Configuration Manager setup.
The first step is to open the Configuration Manager as seen in the screenshot below.
Once the Configuration Manager is open go to the Client Setup tab. The Uninstall Workstation checkbox should be unchecked in your end. Check it like the screenshot below. Clicking OK button directly should be but to be sure click Apply, and then OK buttons.
Open again the Configuration Manager. This time we will install back the uninstalled workstation. Notice the Install Workstation checkbox just below the Shortlcut Links box, check it. The click OK button.
This should do the trick. Check you Application Designer to see if the Properties button of the object properties is working now.
